I’m so glad to have you visit my website. On this page you’ll find materials to enrich your language arts program and help you incorporate my historical novel, Galveston’s Summer of the Storm, into your curriculum. My book, which is geared for third-seventh graders, follows the adventures of a fictional 14-year-old Austin girl who spends the summer of 1900 with her relatives on the coast and is caught up in the Great Galveston Hurricane. The story integrates well with lessons on language arts, Texas history, science/weather, and social studies.

Please feel free to copy these pages and distribute them for classroom use. Also encourage your students to visit my website, which will both entertain children and encourage them to write. Happy reading!
